Ritual of Rain

The Ritual of Rain is about an indigenous tribe that lives in the wild, and believes in the existence of the god of rain. The god of rain is a serious and powerful being that brings the rain when it is called. The indigenous tribe gather together and performs a serious holy ritual to call the god of rain. In the end, the god of rain rewards the tribe with water droplets falling from the sky and landing on the barren dry land.

The Ritual of Rain is an algorithmic computer music composition based on Markov chains and frequency modulation techniques to create unique, dark sounds that fits the ambience of the piece. I experimented with various sound synthesis techniques and algorithms such as granular synthesis to create queer unconventional sounds that fit the composition. I used Nyquist for programming, and Pro Tools for editing and mastering.
